![]() Having your "tiny home" on wheels can certainly have it's conveniences...everywhere you go, your house is with you. However it can also have it's drawbacks, especially in a world where those without homes are frowned upon and in many cases even criminalized for trying to provide their basic human needs, like sleeping, eating and urinating... Being homeless for me is a tough walk between the land of the "normals" and the land of us "crazies." If I want to be wild and free and live in the forest with my animal friends, I can do that, but that also means I would have no internet, cell phone service, or any way to make an income to buy toilet paper or anything I would want to eat that I can't catch or pick myself. If I want to work, or get on the radio, do video and get back in business, then I'm forced to live in a city where I have access to wireless internet and cell phone service. Of course this really changes things. I can no longer bury my feces with a shovel, or make my morning coffee on the street with my can fire. I also have to find a public restroom that is open, or poop in a bag in my car and hope I find trash can soon... Trying to find this balance has been hard and this series of photos should show you how difficult it is to find parking in many cities...most of these are specific to California right now...just one of the MANY reasons why I do not want to "live" there. Being homeless while living in your car is NOT easy. I am constantly having to move so I'm not noticed. I can't park in the same place more than a couple times and never in a row. I don't go to where known homeless people are because that makes me a bigger target. The rest areas have already told the homeless living there that they will be unable to stay for long periods, so they have to switch back and forth from there, to work to walmart, to a park, just to get told to leave again. Sleeping in neighborhoods and getting harassed by the neighbors or woken up by cops...it's sad how often I talk with people who really believe that the homeless person sleeping in the car is the cause of all their problems, of all crime and drugs in their community and that drugs, violence and homelessness go hand in hand. Let me say this...I have not once been hurt by a homeless person, but I can think of about 7 billion people each day being harmed by those with the grandest and most opulent homes. Funny how they tricked you, who is also one paycheck away from homelessness yourself, that we are the problem. No, we are the symptom... Who really is hurting who? How many homeless people have hurt you? And how many non homeless have hurt you? Yeah, I'm thinking that number is WAY off balance... longing for a day where people love...despite that last time you took a shower or how nice of a car you can afford. I dream of the forest and all my furry friends...but since I love them, I can't eat them all...which means I have to choose to live in a city right now so that I can make this radio thing happen and hopefully find a way to take care of myself again. Here are some of the photos from along the way... This first is from my home town...good old San Diego... :( These are just a few I can post in a few minutes online here still on the road...I will post more when I am able. But as you can see, living in your car really isn't that easy. People living in their cars aren't out to get you. We are just people trying to exist. Just like you. We aren't criminals, perverts, druggies or lazy losers. We are people who got sick and had no one to help us, lost a job, left a domestic violence situation, etc... Do not judge...please just let us get some sleep! Thank you and May Peace Shine Upon Us All! :) Christie Aphrodite Here is a video I made after being woken up by cops a few weeks ago...

I know it's been a while...but if you know anything about me and my road adventures, I'm sure you are aware that everything that could go wrong, always does and no plan ever made comes to fruition. Truth is, there is always magic to be found in those situations. So I'm certainly not complaining...but I have been found stuck a couple times, this last one being 6 days already...2nd tow in 2 weeks... :-)
During this adventure to find some sun and reset before I get back on the air, I have been led to places with false promises, much farther than I had ever intended, but the good news is the break downs have been in safe places where I have people I can trust to get me back up on the road safely and a warm bed. I've also been dealing with some health issues that I can't really address till I get back to Washington. I was able to acquire some essential oils to start working on my head so that's starting to get better. There's been some drainage of blood and pus with more balance issues and headaches. I also tore my rotator cuff on my bad arm, so I'm down one limb for now. In the mean time which I will call my "forced vacation" I've been keeping busy with some crochet and taking photos I've been posting on my Instagram here. :) https://www.instagram.com/ChristieAphrodite/ I can't wait to get back to Washington where I can finally start Homeless Radio on American Freedom Radio and get back to my happy place. While in California, I got to revisit some traumas, and face them with my head high...as a survivor, a brave warrior, not the downtrodden fearful shame laden person they would want me to be. I made it and met some wonderful people along the way. I also was Blessed to reconnect with some of my childhood friends who reminded me who I am. Sometimes things can get clouded dealing with the pressures of stalkers, and internet slanderers, betrayals and situations that would have you believe less of yourself, but thanks to these beautiful people, they gave me the reset I found I was so in need of. Words cannot thank these beautiful people enough... I thank the people along the way that have made this happen and I will post some updates when I have internet again about when the live shows will begin. :) Thank you so much for your patience and support. I will make it as soon as humanly possible. :) Blessings and Love, Christie Aphrodite |
